The Severn Loop 5km race took place on Friday 15th June 2012 and, as always, the senior event was preceded by a well attended junior race. The junior race results will be uploaded to this site once I locate the final version, meanwhile, results from the senior event are available above. 74 runners completed the senior event with course record holder Joe Brocklehurst (Shrewsbury AC) again setting the pace with a winning time of 15:42. Justin Goodhall (U/A) was in second place in 16:56 with the evergreen Tony Power (Telford AC) coming in third in 17:28. In the ladies race Emily Dare of Whitchurch Whippets took first in 20:07 with Gill Evans (Shepshed) second in 21:13 and Claire Pugh (SyTri) third in 22:15. There were other fine performances in the various age categories and a special mention for the Shrewsbury Running Buddies, many of whose members were competing for the first time and all of whom completed the 5km course under the expert guidance of coach Dionne Burgoyne.
The next running of the Severn Loop race will take place on 27th December 2012.
